The following rough example of an average monthly budget is to give an idea of the cost of living for a student in Hungary:
Accommodation:
Apartment (1 bedroom) in City Centre: 160 - 230 000 HUF
Apartment (1 bedroom) Outside of Centre: 120 - 180 000 HUF
Overhead: around 20 000 - 35 000 HUF per month
Meals:
Lunch or dinner at a local restaurant:2 500 - 4 500 HUF per meal
Other costs of food (local shopping etc.): 90 - 100 000 HUF per month
Additional shopping:
Health care products, detergents etc.: 30 000 HUF per month
Transport:
Student transport pass (with valid Hungarian student card, student card issued by an EU country, EEA Member States or Switzerland, or international student identification card: 3 450 HUF per month
Transport pass: 9 500 HUF
Single ticket: 450 HUF
Entertainment:
Average movie ticket costs (for students): 1500 - 1650 HUF
Museum passes: 2100 - 4500 HUF

Taxi:
Taxis circulate with fixed tariff of 440 HUF/Km (1.17 EUR/Km) in addition to the one-off basic fee of 1100 HUF (2.93 EUR) and waiting fee: 110 HUF/minute (0.29 EUR/minute)
